Pavlina Krivy grew up in Central Europe surrounded by captivating beauty of the Ore Mountains of Western Bohemia. Originally trained as an architect in the Czech Republic Pavlina followed her passion for nature in her new home, in Canada, where she studied and worked in horticulture field.

As a self-taught stained glass artist she has been creating copper foiled glass panels since 2007 building on vivid memories of colourful historic stained glass windows she admired in Europe. In 2016, after taking an introductory class at a local studio, Pavlina fell in love with fused glass. Painting with glass powders has become her main medium. Drawing inspiration from her hiking and kayaking trips in the Canadian Rockies and the neighbouring Columbia Mountains Pavlina distills happy moments spent exploring wonders of nature into glass scenes. Bird and animal portraits are her favourite topic. She likes to introduce artwork stands into the pictures as an integral part of the portrayed scenes. Pavlina experiments with combining glass with driftwood or rocks.

Pavlina’s bird portrait ‘Pileated Woodpecker’ has been selected for inclusion at Hot Glass Toledo 2019, a biennial contemporary glass art show & gala event held in Toledo, Ohio. Recently she has become one of the featured fused glass artists in Delphi Glass annual catalogue. Pavlina’s glass panels have made a regular appearance at Radium Hot Springs Glass Art Show, an annual event organized by Parks Canada. Her art has also been on display at the historic Kootenay Park Lodge and at the SS Moyie National Historic Site. Pavlina’s work accompanied written word in a couple of poetry books.

Pavlina lives and creates in the West Kootenays, British Columbia, Canada.
